Our executive team has extensive knowledge and involvement of leading successful international businesses and commercializing new technologies. A team of regional and divisional vice presidents, each of whom has widespread knowledge of completion and monitoring technologies, further supports this expertise.
Tendeka’s management has been integral in expanding our international network. Through stringent operations organisation, business process controls and corporate strategy, we have established and retained key relationships at every level within NOCs, IOCs and independent operators alike.
Chief Executive Officer
An established figure in the oil and gas sector, Gary Smart, Tendeka’s Chief Executive Officer, has more than 25 years’ industry experience. His breadth of knowledge has been gained through a variety of technical, commercial and operational management roles in drilling, subsea, production and completions. Prior to joining Tendeka in 2009, Gary spent 11 years at Weatherford International where he held a range of management positions, most recently as Group Vice President, Well Screen Technologies.
Gary holds an MBA gained from Henley Management College as well as technical qualifications in design engineering and mechanical engineering.
An active member of both the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Institute of Directors, Gary is also involved with the Energy Institute. These reflect his desire to pass on knowledge and expertise to those entering the industry and encourage their ongoing development.
Chief Financial Officer
Alan Pearson joined Tendeka as CFO on 15 June 2009. He has more than 15 years experience in both corporate and private practice, and was previously the finance director for Total Waste Management. Prior to this, Alan served as Eastern Hemisphere controller for Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids.
He brings a strong background of financial discipline and has worked with a number of companies experiencing high levels of growth. In these positions he ensured the financial systems, controls and reporting met the specific needs for such environments.
A qualified accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland (ICAS), Alan also holds a BA in Accountancy and Finance from Heriot Watt University.
Chief Technology Officer
Annabel joined Tendeka from Weatherford where she spent more than 14 years in numerous technical and R&D roles – both in Aberdeen and overseas. Annabel has broad experience in sand control, reservoir completions and general completion technology across global markets. Prior to her time at Weatherford she worked for Schlumberger as an open hole-logging engineer in the North Sea. She holds several patents and is the co-author of a number of sand control-related SPE papers.
Annabel graduated from a Leeds University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Chief Operating Officer
Scott joined Tendeka in May 2015. He has 25 years experience working in a range of operational, support and senior line management roles. Previously he worked for Weatherford where his last role was General Manager for Saudi Arabia. He has also spent time working in the Operator sector, where he was Director for an Independent Oil & Gas Company carrying out exploration work in Myanmar.
Scott has a strong formation evaluation background from over 15 years with Baker Atlas, as well as completions experience from time spent with Weatherford’s Wellscreen group. With numerous postings globally, Scott brings a diverse range of international experience to Tendeka.
Scott holds a B.Eng from the University of Glasgow, and is an active member with SPE having previously held board positions in Qatar and Thailand.
Vice President for Europe, Africa & Russia
Derek has extensive experience in the international energy industry and held a number of senior management positions prior to joining Tendeka. Derek has worked as Managing Director for TCO and has had senior technical and commercial roles within Weatherford and Baker.
He has a wealth of experience in taking businesses from start-up to an international presence and brings to the European region a clear understanding of operational, technical and financial knowledge.
Vice President, Corporate Development & Marketing
Gillian joined Tendeka as Senior Sales Engineer in 2007. Prior to joining Tendeka Gillian held various positions within Weatherford Completion Systems including Product Line Champion for Sand Control Systems, Applications Engineer and Customer Account Representative. With over 10 years oil and gas industry experience Gillian brings knowledge in completions, sand control and expandable technologies.
Gillian holds a BSc in Biochemistry from Aberdeen University and an MSc in Oil & Gas (Offshore) Engineering from Robert Gordon’s University.
Manufacturing and Procurement Director
Matthew is Manufacturing and Procurement Director at Tendeka. He graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering and has a Master of Science Degree in Materials Engineering. Matthew is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers since 2011.
His experience has ranged from working in R&D, mechanical design, technical sales support and manufacturing management while working in the defence industry for 12 years. He has 18 years supply chain experience in various roles, including working as Supply Chain Manager for a leading subsea and top side valve manufacturer. He then joined an innovative wellhead manufacturer specialising in surface wellheads for exploration and appraisal drilling in 2013. Matthew is responsible for the strategic development and operations of all supply chain and manufacturing internationally.
